After School Printmaking
  • After School Printmaking

The invention of the printing press in the 1400s changed the world.

Before that, craftspeople had to carve wooden blocks or metal plates to make copies.

We're going to go back to those good old days when everything was done by hand, and learn a craft that will help us get fully tuned in to the joys of hand work.

Students will use their own ideas and imagination to create images that can be reproduced over and over.

We'll begin on week one by making lots of our own handmade paper, which we'll use throughout the rest of the 6 week session to print on.

Please note: This session has already begun, but space is still available at a per day rate for the remaining weeks.

Then we'll learn how to make various types of prints, including: mono prints, printing with vegetables, embossing, and rubber linoleum blocks.

    Thursday, Dec. 2: Handmade Paper

    Thursday, Dec. 9: Holiday Cards

Thursday, Dec. 16: Textile printing on tea towels

Students who attend all six weeks will come away with a portfolio of prints, bespoke greeting cards, and a beautiful, totally handmade book of their own designs!
