Teen Art and Cooking Camp
This four day, blended curriculum of art and cooking specially geared toward teens will highlight fun menus and exploration of cooking and art techniques focused on broadening both the artistic and culinary palate.
In the kitchen, knife skills, kitchen safety and nutritional guidance will be taught in a fun and informative way. We'll use mostly local fresh produce (campers will get to harvest some vegetables fresh from the organic garden beds at Camp Cactus), and even picky eaters will enjoy preparing nutritious and delicious meals and snacks to share. Sample menus may include making "nibble boards", baked goods, stir fries, and recipes from around the globe.
In the studio, campers will design and illustrate the recipes they cook using printmaking, painting, drawing and mixed media to create unique cookbooks, art, and personalized aprons to take home.
Each student will spend ½ their day in the kitchen, and ½ their day in the studio.
Our motto is, "If they cook it, they will eat it".
Campers should bring a water bottle labeled with their name.
Ages 12 +
All materials provided, and healthy lunches and snacks will be prepared and served by campers.
Please note: though we will always have a vegetarian option, some recipes may include eggs and/or dairy.
