Paper + Printmaking Camp!
The invention of the printing press in the 1400s changed the world. Before that, craftspeople had to carve wooden blocks or metal plates to make copies.
We're going to go back to those good old days when everything was done by hand, and learn a craft that will help us get fully tuned in to the joys of hand work.
Students will use their own ideas and imagination to create images that can be reproduced over and over.
You'll begin on day one by making lots of your own handmade paper, which we'll use throughout the rest of the week to print on.
Then you'll learn how to make various types of prints, including: mono prints, printing with vegetables, embossing, and linoleum blocks.
Finally, you'll bind your art into a finished book.
You'll come away with a portfolio of prints, and a beautiful, totally handmade book of your own design!
All materials provided, no experience necessary.
Campers should bring a lunch and water bottle.
Camp Cactus Studio is a peanut-free zone, so please refrain from including those products in your child's lunch.
