Paper + Printmaking Workshop
The invention of the printing press in the 1400s changed the world. Before that, craftspeople had to carve wooden blocks or metal plates to make copies.
We're going to go back to those good old days when everything was done by hand, and learn a craft that will help us get fully tuned in to the joys of hand work.
Students will use their own ideas and imagination to create images that can be reproduced over and over.
You'll begin the day by making your own handmade, recycled paper, which we'll use throughout the rest of the workshop.
While your paper is drying, we'll explore a few basic printmaking techniques, from hand carving linoleum blocks, to printing with vegetables.
You'll come away with a portfolio of prints, and a beautiful, totally handmade book of your own design!
All materials provided, no experience necessary.
Please bring a bagged lunch and water bottle.
We'll provide snacks!
